Bringing Butterflies to Middleburgh

Country Classroom's students are working with Bill Morton to make sure that butterflies and hummingbirds have all the flowers they need this summer. The children started seeds weeks ago at their Middleburgh-based independent school. Careful thinning, daily watering, and weeding insured six large trays of healthy seedlings were ready to be planted. After some instructions from Mr. Morton, eager hands plunged into the soil, dug out holes, and gently transplanted the seedlings. The children looked back at their work with pride.

"I can't wait to watch them grow over the summer! It's okay for us to visit them, right?" asked one gardener. Mr. Morton assured them they could come back whenever they wanted and told them weeding help is always needed. Meanwhile, the eager gardeners can't wait for next year when they can start even more flowers to make sure the butterflies keep coming back to Middleburgh.
